Gunrock Olive Oil
This intense olive oil salutes the feisty spirit of campus mascot Gunrock, a thoroughbred brought to UC Davis in 1921 to help supply high-quality stock for the U.S. Army Cavalry. To honor this descendent of racing legend Man O’War, olive oil sensory experts Paul Vossen, Alexandra Devarenne and Julie Menge assembled a spirited blend of traditional California olive varieties: Mission, Manzanillo, Sevillano, Barouni, and Ascolano. The olives were carefully gathered from campus trees in November and December and milled within twenty-four hours of harvest. Gunrock lovers will appreciate the fresh flavor and spicy finish this blend continues to deliver.
Tasting notes:
Assertive floral and nutty aroma wrapped in flavors of fresh-cut grass, apricot, green tea, mint, ripe olives and artichoke. Harmonious on the palate, with a strong kick down the stretch.
